Dan did not "lump all Christians together." And since being a Christian is a choice, it is correct to say that those that support clergy are at the very least complicit with regard to child sexual abuse.
Second, the modern Christian Church is no different from historic Christian churches. child sexual abuse was historically just a rampant as it is now. The difference is people no longer are willing to turn a blind eye. Victims are being believed. Cases are being prosecuted. Clergy are rightfully losing their status as truth tellers.
Given the number of clergy abusers, the bad apple defense is hollow and self-serving. People are sick of that defense. You can't have it both ways.
