Many treated Commissioner Rhodea’s statement as humorous, a ridiculous reaction. But do not write her statement off as one politician defending another, nor is it someone defending their lover. This is nothing less than an embrace of the psychiatric punishment of critics.

Reacting to the criticism surrounding right-wing Commissioner Joe Moss carrying a partially concealed weapon onto the Grand Valley State University campus,

“Rhodea dismissed the matter as a “non-issue,” saying fellow board members were “getting all worked up over silliness.”

“You guys are suffering from Moss Derangement Syndrome,” she said. “You’re overreacting to miniscule things.”[1]
