The Inscrutable Mr. Moss Finds God

Rumor has it that Mr. Moss, co-founder of right-wing Ottawa Impact, and Chairman of the Michigan Ottawa County Board of Commissioners, red in tooth and claw, looks in his morning mirror and sees Jesus. He would deny this, insisting he is Jesus’s agent, or perhaps His anointed. But the reality is there is no difference; if you think Jesus has chosen you to work through, what’s the distinction? Everything you do in His name must be what He wanted. Ipso facto, you’re Jesus.

Mr. Moss girds his loins with woven threads of Christian Nationalist hate and anger. He is ready for another day of his good person-in-drag persona. The bad imitates the good.[1]

Why is this? Is it because Mr. Moss can’t handle rejection? He rarely engages any media he sees as a potential threat, refuses to answer questions he dislikes in public meetings, and brooks no dissent from among his OI adherents.

He sees his religion diminishing; people leaving in increasing numbers.

He is blinded by wealth-induced privilege to the plight of disadvantaged others whom his religion has condemned as violating Jesus’s will. He shepherds scapegoats.

He saw Covid related mandates close his church and school to save the lives of millions as a personal rejection of things he holds dear. He embraced a reverence for ignorance as a shield against a changing…
