What started life was likely part of a chemical reaction within a sea of organic molecules. I'm not going to play the reductionist game of "who put the chemicals and molecules in the sea?" because that just ends up in a tautology which get's us nowhere and reduces your God to an absurd spark-plug instead of the all loving, all knowing, god that intervenes in human lives to cause such things as wars, disease, and suffering.
