I too help people. But when repeatedly treated the way you were I know when to end a relationship. A person has to be a real bastard before I give up on him/her. But once I do, I refuse to be suckered back. I think my approach works because I have never had to write a story like yours.

I have little patience with those who keep going back to abusive relationships. Their choice very often ends tragically.

I certainly hope this never happens, but keep it up and someday someone is going to hurt you very badly, even beat the hell out of you...or worse.
